FREE AGENT PROCESS
FA POSTING (WEEKLY)
-Players up for bid MUST be posted on the Proboards site by Thursday 11:59 PM EDT (weekly during the regular season until end of Week 20)
-Any manager can elect to post a player (or players).
-The posting manager is under no obligation to bid on the posted player(s); however, to bid on them, they must be posted.
FA BIDDING
Bidding deadline is Friday 11:59 PM EDT
-Bids are to be sent into the "League Office" account on Proboards
- Bids submitted as AAS are assumed to be spread evenly.
- Once a player is awarded his contract remains in tact till he clears waivers or the contract is expired. Eg. Mike Trout, OF, LAA, $3, 2 years 2020: $2, 2021: $2.
**Staggering or front/backloading contracts is only allowed during *off-season* free agency. In-season free agents are to be paid the same average AAS throughout the duration of the assigned contract.
Prospects (P)
-Free via the DRAFT until they reach the 50 / 150 limit at which point they will cost $2 for the next 4 years (starting the following year)
-Signed MILB players need to have a qualifying 1AB/1IP before being bid on in FA
Example- You want 1 of Player A, Player B, and Player C. You would make bids for all 3 with a message of your intent to win only 1 or 2 of these players. Send a list in the order you want to win them, and this will avoid going over roster limits, or your salary cap.
Bidding on any 2 of:
1. Player B
2. Player C
3. Player A
Free Agent RULINGS
The primary criteria in determining a winner is the the BID VALUE (salary/x year(s) = TS x Multiplier of amount of signed years = Bid Value).
Priority list is not a requirement (although, highly suggested), but you will need to input your contract detail in the bid.
- The League Office will post the winning team in the FA Winning Bids section. It is solely your responsibility to monitor the board and add any player you won to your roster. At this point, the player is ready to sign with your team and you may officially add the player to your 50-man roster and deduct his salary from your salary cap.
-When you sign a player and your current roster is full or the new player causes you to exceed your salary cap, you will need to take corrective action (waive or trade player(s)) within 72 hours (PLAN AHEAD). Failure to resolve your illegal roster within the 72 hour time period may result in your newly added player being dropped back into free agency or (if bid on by others) forfeited to the 2nd highest GM. Also, after 72 hour period, you CANNOT trade players to get under cap, this is not an "extension" of the trade window (unless ADMIN is notified of an on-going trade discussion before expired time).
- The new player may not be added to your FANTRAX roster until your roster is legal.
BID VALUE AND STRUCTURE
TS (Total Salary) This is the total amount of salary offered in a contract.
BV(BID VALUE) This determines the value of your bid based on a percentage.
To allow for a better contract environment bids are now given value based on salary amount and years offered.
1 year = TS x 1.6
2 year = TS X 1.4
3 year = TS X 1.2
4 year = TS X 1.0
You are to include this with your bid. For example
MIKE TROUT ---> Cubs bid 4 years $10 ($40 TS) (40 BV)
Dodgers bid 3 years for $11.15 ($33.45 TS) (40.14 BV)
In some situations there may be more players up for bid in which your roster/cap does not allow you to have, but would like to take a stab at all of them in hopes of landing 1 (or some). In that case, you may send a priority list in the league messages
Example- You want 1 of Player A, Player B, and Player C. You would make bids for all 3 with a message of your intent to win only 1 or 2 of these players. Send a list in the order you want to win them, and this will avoid going over roster limits, or your salary cap.
Bidding on any 2 of:
1. Player B
2. Player C
3. Player A
EXPIRING CONTRACTS
Expiring contracts are only renewable using the Tag process (two FT per player per team) and CANNOT be traded (unless with a tag). Plan your contract terms carefully!
