Teams have the right to waive any player(s) to free agency. To waive a player, you must post him in a new thread under the section titled, "Waivers." This will make permanent the decision to waive a player to free agency (non-revocable). Once posted, a player will be subject to hold for a 72-hour period, during which two actions can be taken:
1. Player can be claimed by another team, of which posting team will be relieved of player(s) buyout and the claiming team will take on the player and his entire contract. If two teams place a claim for the same period, waiver order will be consulted (which will be determined by end of season standings). The waiver order will be updated accordingly after each successful waiver claim. Posted in the "Waiver Order" thread.
2. Player goes unclaimed, of which the posting team will be responsible for 50% buyout of the remaining contract. The GM can choose to eat the buyout amount in the current year spread the amount out over the remaining term.
3. MiLB players can be waived and claimed by teams (waiver order applies). However, MiLB players who are past MiLB Limits and declined a MiLB contract WILL NOT be subdued to waivers and will automatically go into current season UFA.
Example of waived player:
Rickie Weeks four-year contract
1:$3
2:$3
3:$3
4:$3
Buyout can be eaten in the current year = penalty $6 (50% of total contract)
Buyout spread out = $1.5 / $1.5 / $1.5 / $1.5 (50% for each year)
- During the playoffs, only playoff teams can waive players, but all teams can claim players.
- Waiver deadline will be (at least) from two weeks to a month (per ADMIN discretion) apart from trading deadline
-If applicable the free drop for new a new manager needs to be executed prior to making any transactions including trades or signings
Retirement/Death/Career-ending Injury/Banned/Suspended/Legal Matters, etc.
- All players released and not claimed are subject to 50% buyout.
- All requests for compensation/free drops will be reviewed and decided by ADMIN, for any player status.
- In the case of retirement, injury, release, death, and/or hold on career (different sport, different league, religious, legal matters, etc.), the player is still subject to the 50% buyout rule. Retired players and players going to a different league but under contract with a team (in fantasy) will be subject to the full contract penalty; however, there are some circumstances where the contract penalty can be reduced. This will be handled by the ADMIN on a case by case basis and all rulings are final. In order to make a request for a reduced buyout penalty in any situation, you must contact the ADMIN, in writing, upon the release of said player.
- A sudden death will be addressed by the league office, in which, may result in no contract penalty and/or could essentially be eligible for a compensatory pick.
